DJ: 'First Down Line' Technology to Debut on CBS Sports

This year's Thanksgiving Day game, televised on CBS at 12:00 noon (EST),
will be the first national, over-the-air broadcast of a regular season NFL
game to show viewers an electronic first down line on the field while play
is in progress. Generated using the live video insertion system(TM) from
Princeton Video Image, the first down line will appear to viewers as a line
across the field, making it easier to determine the progress of each play.
According to the NFL, 60 million viewers watched last year's game.
In addition to the Thanksgiving Day game, CBS Sports plans to use the
electronic first down line in six more NFL games this season, including all
four AFC playoff games.
