Great site, Scrapps, Thanx. I suppose the "last mile" to the end user is limited by the local PhoCo's willingness to allow competition. But, with that as a given (in my area there is no one wanting to compete), I'm curious about the technical problems.

For example, "old copper" is given as an excuse for G Lite not working properly. What difference does that make?

Also, if G lite works by converting a data stream to a high frequency across the phone line, why would users neeed to buy a new modem? Why not just a "black box" (or another card for your PC) to do the frequency conversion?

Ahhh, so many dumb questions, so few people to answer them...
