Mssr. Voltaire,

For a newcomer to SI, you have made quite an impact. Your prognostications have been well formulated, often mystical, and surprisingly accurate. Please comment on my assessment of the opportunity I see at Dell:

After posting a magnificent quarterly report, Dell succumbed to predictable profit taking.

Compaq's cleverly timed announcement about entering the direct/internet sales universe placed a damper on normal post profit taking recovery. I am not too concerned with cpq, since they are struggling to find accretive solutions to the DEC and Tandem acquisitions, and the direct sales/build to order paradigm is not so easily exploited.

Box sales are booming around the world, and dell is perfectly positioned to capitalize on the trend.

So it seems probable that dell will begin appreciate through the balance of the 4th quarter and through 1h99 re-establishing its pattern of the past several years.

With this base of assumptions, isn't dell at an 11% discount from its recent high a screaming buy? Your opinion and those of the thread would be valued.

Frank
