It should be read -$4.82. In the fourth quarter of 1997, the company recorded a one-time charge of $1.1 billion against net income. Including this charge, the company had a 1997 net loss of $853.6 million, or $5.30 per share. In 1998, the last 9 months showed a profit of .67 per share.
