Another good review of Half-Life:

ogr.com

Personally, I think these reviews are way too generous to the game. So far, I think it is a very good game but not to the level that these reviewers a gushing over it. I definitely saw some dumb AI last night and some level design issues "cheap thrills" which annoyed me.

One example: There a place where you need to jump over laser trip wires at ground level and the floor is slick. The problem is that you should be able to easily _step_ over the trip wire, but you can't. You must jump, making the whole thing an exercise in frustration. Maybe because the game strives for so much realism, it is really frustrating when you can't do realistic things.

Anyway, why is this important to TDFX shareholders? The hype surrounding this game is continuing to grow into the Christmas season. This is now perceived as a _must have_ game and it should keep people coming to CompUSA's, etc. for quite a while.
