>>MOND BOOKS $16 MILLION IN NEW ORDERS; SECOND TUFF PLATE ORDER PLACED BY U.S. CARRIER TORONTO, ONTARIO--

Mond Industries Inc. announced today receipt of approximately $16
million in new orders, the bulk of which were placed by two new
customers for Mond products. In addition, a significant portion
of the orders was placed by a U.S.-based auto parts freight
carrier for Mond's innovative "Tuff Plate" trailer.

This is the second such order for the new Tuff Plate trailer, a
rugged van with a galvanized steel interior developed and built
by Mond to meet the requirements of automotive parts haulers.
Mond's first order for the Tuff Plate, announced earlier this
year, was a $4-million order from Chrysler Corporation. This
latest order, with a value of nearly $6 million, was placed by
first-time customer O.J. Transport of Detroit, Michigan. O.J.
Transport is Ford Motor Company's largest automotive parts
carrier.

"We have been very gratified to see new orders continuing at this
pace following the usual late-summer easing. We see no signs of
a let-up," said Pat DiLillo, President and CEO. But he said the
highlight of this latest round of orders was the Tuff Plate
trailers booked by the Michigan carrier.

"This premium product has given us our first access to the large
U.S. market," he noted.

Orders for conventional trailers came from such long-standing
Canadian customers as TIP, Molson's Breweries and SLH Transport.
A new customer, DeWolf Transport, booked an order for dry-freight
vans.

Mond's current order book stands at more than $32 million.

Mond is Canada's largest manufacturer of domestic intermodal
containers for the truck/rail transportation sector and designs,
manufactures, services and repairs an extensive line of standard
and customized trailers, trailer chassis, dry freight vans,
refrigerated and heated vans, and truck bodies. Mond sells its
products in Canada using its own sales force and through a
nationwide dealer network.

The Company's shares trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange under
the symbol MII.
