El,

How was it in Cincinnati today? Here in Chicago it was about 60 degrees and sunny.

Like the rest of the thread, I'm watching CPQ and still wondering what it's going to take to make this bird fly. It reminds me of IBM a few years ago. I bought a paltry number of shares at $68, and in a few weeks it hit $42. I held on to it all the way back to $72 and sold it. Then, it went to about $150 over time and split, and now it's all the way up to $165 and change. While comparing today's CPQ with IBM may not be appropriate, you never know what a couple of good quarters by EP and the gang might do.

I just recently came into some cash from a Treasury strip that matured, and have been on the sidelines wondering what to do with it. I already have a lot of CPQ, but I was thinking of perhaps purchasing another 4 or 5 hundred shares at the current price. I'd appreciate hearing any and all opinions on whether I should buy even more of this stock given it's less than stellar performance over the past year or more. For some reason, I've just got a very good feeling that CPQ is going rock in 1999, and I'm wondering if others share that view.

By the way, my pick for 20% appreciation by the end of the year is Timberline Software (TMBS). A small cap that just split on Monday, and is now trading at 12.75. Its 52 week high (split adjusted) is $20.62. The company has been a 99 EPS rank in IBD for the past 9 months, and just yesterday announced that options on the stock would now be available as of 12/1.

While I don't monitor the thread all day, I've got to say that when I do check in it's always informative and entertaining.

Best wishes to all for a very Happy Thanksgiving holiday. Let's hope by this time next year all CPQ longs will have reason to be really thankful.
