Bush does not have to "kiss up" to the dreaded RR. He merely needs not insult them as did Bob Dole and Bill Clinton. If Bush waffles on abortion, then the RR will desert him as it did Republicans this last election. On abortion, Bush needs merely to claim distaste for abortion except for when the mother's physical life is in jeopardy or in the cases of rape and incest, and the RR will support him. Philosophically, rape and incest are not reasons to allow abortion, but I think those of the RR allow it because of the harrowing circumstances in which the pregnancy occurs.

On homosexuality, Bush should not champion having open homosexuals in the military, or tax dollars spent on supporting the "partners" of homosexuals. He does not have to rabidly criticize homosexuals, but merely not use government to force their agenda down the throats of Americans. He should also enforce the law as he would in any other case, should a homosexual be harmed without cause.
