Craig, I would rather have the DiamondMax 17.2 gig.. for a 5400 RPM drive it's smoking hot for transfer rates and cool to the touch (the biggest problem with the 7200 rpm drives).. I would be willing to bet that it is close to the sustained transfer rate of the 7200 RPM IBM, because the areal density on the Maxtor is at least 25% higher.. Steve
