Corel is being touted as the new competition to Microsoft. At least that's where Corel will try to position itself, although I know they don't have the biggest or best market share. At annual shareholder's meeting in Ottawa, Canada, on april 22, 1996, Corel CEO M. Cowpland announced Corel will report profit for next quarter -- check other Corel threads on this site. Corel also announceed they are giving their Suites away ($50CDN to cover manufacturing costs) to schools and some businesses in the Ottawa Region. Corel is trying to build a bigger base and investors are seeing the possibility. Also, Corel is on the verge of announcing a huge sale ($12 million) to Canada's National Defence department. $12 million is not much except that National Defence is the biggest spending federal department and many of its clients will likely have to buy Corel to "talk" to National Defence.

Also to note many block trades of Corel are being reported in the CDN Financial Post daily -- this was silent as of late. Block Trades (100,000 shares or more or $1,000,000 or more), as far as I gather indicate institutions and funds are buying back into Corel.

Go COREL!!!!!
