Half Life and steering wheels

Are force-feedback steering wheels REALLY that good? Most of the reviews I've read (Lloyd Case at Gamespot, and the rec.auto.simulation guys) say it's nice, but the last thing you need when trying to race competitively are the bumps it gives you.

I think the install of Half Life asked for 410MB. Don't forget about cluster size if you're close and not running FAT32!
