Partitioning is not a feature 'inherent' to helical scan and is virtually exclusive to Ampex at this time. I've looked at one other mfg (SONY) claiming partitioning but their overhead was enormous making it basically un-usable. Hmmm...perhaps we need to check into this partitioning feature more closely.
