Not sure why AMZN would need CMPL.

Amazon carries pretty much the same selection of technical books as CMPL. I've searched for some pretty advanced tech books on both sites, and came up with similar results. I don't see where Amazon is out of date. CMPL has a nice interface which subdivides the tech books into numerous categories, and a couple of other things, so if you buy a lot of tech books, it's easier to find them on CMPL.

Amazon would have to question if they really want the business of the advanced computer user -- it's a small subset of their customer base. Wby spend lots of money to acquire CMPL?? For beginning computer books (i.e. "intro to Windows"), you'll get the same selection on Amazon, and perhaps that's all Amazon would really want to cater to. It's easy enough for them to keep the latest titles available.

Bottom line, I don't think Amazon needs to acquire CMPL in order to keep a share of the computer book market. It would be cheaper for them to simply put their Web programmers to work to design a computer book-specific interface if they really wanted to!
