Jim, I keep telling you I'm "making" money on AMD and you keep hearing "losing". I've picked up option premiums every single month. I agree that in this case I would have done better just buying and holding, but that doesn't mean I'm losing. In addition, you seem to keep getting it wrong about writing puts. Having a short put position is ok when a stock is going up. I keep picking up $1-$2 a share every month and there's no money out of my pocket. I the one case I was assigned, I sold covered calls and made more money. It works fine in my IRA as well. If you're so sure AMD is going up, and you wouldn't mind buying it at a lower price on a dip, why not write puts and put some money in your pocket? It does take substantial margin and not every broker will allow put writing in an IRA but I've made so much money with Intel I get what I want.
