People are willing to pay stupifly high prices for AMZN and EBAY because of the popularity of the sites, not the earnings. When you ask someone about buying a book online, they immediately say, "Oh yeah Amazon, right?"

That makes it worth eleventy trillion dollars.....

With all the new people coming to the net every minute, the # of hits is what counts.
