Maybe that's the way you should look at your investment with these companies, as a charitable donation. You get a tax write-off on an investment loss and the money you've invested is going to benefit someone else just like a charity. You can call it the donation to the "Pat Hayton Development Fund" for needy millionaires. (Sorry, shouldn't laugh at a loss of money to anyone.)
