I was dismayed by the Netscape AOL merger. Hey -- was it last year that SGI was bragging about selling 50 servers to AOL? I guess JAVA was a bigger enticement. And what happened to the big Everest Project to pour huge $$ into developing an ultra-fast Netscape server? I guess that fizzled too. It looks like a double blow to SGI. Still, all things considered I prefer to be on the side that has Borg Gates. (I have been assimilated!) Still, I am staunch in my belief that the VPC will be a crucial development, and it will ship soon. Gad -- I hope it works as promised, doesn't melt the box or cause genetic damage to secretaries etc. I continue to remain long. --JD
