From the press release: "Rhapsody is expected to support all currently shipping PowerPC based systems sold by Apple and Apple licensees today"

Apple's still selling 601 machines. I'm not sure what the 601 has to do with it - if anything it's the bus architecture that would have more of an effect on compatability. The proper question, therefore, is will they support NuBus, or completely focus on PCI?

NeXTSTEP was already running on NuBus systems, so it wouldn't be surprising if the new OS did support it. Personally, I don't think it's important. They already have a good, and improving OS that supports NuBus.

What computer manufacturer didn't have disappointing sales this season? This isn't news.
