More good news for CELL:

Sanyo begins digital cell phone shipments to U.S.

TOKYO (Reuters) - Sanyo Electric Co Ltd (Nasdaq:SANYY - news) said today it had begun shipping digital cell phones under the Narrow-band Code Division Multiple Access (N-CDMA) format to the United States.

Sanyo agreed with U.S. cell phone operator Sprint PCS in September to cooperate in selling phones, a company spokesman said.

It earlier agreed with U.S. phone distributor Brightpoint Inc (Nasdaq:CELL - news) to market Sanyo cell phones in the U.S. market.

Sanyo aims to sell 400,000 to 500,000 cell phones in the United States annually through the two marketing channels, the spokesman said.

I saw on Bloomberg that they estimate that CELL will move around 200-300k phones for Sanyo in 1999. More volume, I love it!
