Ted:
"..yet easily misconstrued as biased..."
should have read... yet could be easily misconstrued as biased,
As per my personal profile:
"For thought is a bird of space, that in a cage of words may indeed unfold its wings but cannot fly" . Kahlil Gibran
Which is applicable especially in the case of your post, because "words' in and of themselves are not neutral.
The words and the conclusions you appeared to make in your prior post, without the qualifications you made in the subsequent one, were in the greater context of this thread's dialogue. And What you appeared, to me at least, to be concluding was that based on your "email" friend's evidence was that there wasn't a market for an e-commerce tool.
By making your list, and then by not knowing how to categorize such a product, on e may easily surmise that you doubted the need for this product that your friend may or may not have been aware of.
As for my retort, I apologize for my heightened sensitivity, but my points regarding the need and desire were two fold.
And should restated as such and qualified,
1). Your friend may only be reflecting on the scope of his experiences, which may or may not be limited or impacted by what he currently sells.
2). Based on currently operating several small businesses, while constantly dreaming up others, I am the part of the market which PINC is targeting. I am more computer savvy than most, but certainly really don't know squat, especially when compared to someone who seems as knowledgeable as yourself. The vast majority of people who know even less then me (many of my former bosses who were even afraid to turn on the damn machine), who have businesses and want a presence for either their current business or their future business aspirations, from my interactions with these people as clients, fellow professionals and as friends would also like such an easy to understand "accessible" product that doesn't require your amount of expertise. Thus, I as a small businessman would buy such a tool if it existed.
Now I'm sorry if my position would undercut anyone's market, or be untenable to any one in an ivory tower. Certainly you're not in an ivory tower are you? Or, can you still relate to all of us computer peons?
Again, I'm sorry about any heightened sensitivity you may have and do perceive, but "words" are not always clear and /or objective
Thus it all comes down simply I guess
"...to what of your definition of is, is..."
Not to be rude, but just to re-affirm a point through my second item.
Per my interpretation of your request, your second request still to me seems a little peculiar. You appear not to know how to pick up a telephone and call for an evaluation copy. If your analysis is legit, they may provide you with one. I can't say that the company would, because that's why you should place the call. Plus maybe, since you replied with your take on the post I made, I felt as if you were specifically may have been asking ME to make that phone call for you....which I feel still is very strange.
Now if you were invited to the locations, to evaluate for free the other software that you already have, I also find your request for assistance in knowing how to obtain and unwillingness to shell out $40.00 in light of all your other y2K gains also very strange and "curious". I actually find it downright ingenuous.
Plus how far is where you live in Arizona, from Las Vegas where you could have seen all kinds of products that so many other reviews and resellers did..in one place.
Now I can go through infinite permutations as to your intentions, but I won't because this is a waste of both of our time.
You are obviously one who deliberates on your words before putting them on paper. So hopefully now, you may surmise your words's limitation and a little bit more about how other perceive them.
As for you doing or not doing a review of this product, I no longer have an opinion.
For some strange and unexplainable reason, I have a feeling that Planet City's product will be favorably received and reviewed...maybe even by a notable magazine.
But that's just a gut feeling and hardly one I'd invest hard earned dollars in, let alone tell anyone else to invest in either.
I'm tired
Have a Happy and Healthy thanksgiving
God Bless and
Good night
