Hi Chris,

Maybe I'm too lenient with these statues. The fundamental point I want to make is that these statues and many other things I find repulsive in the Roman Church, does not make them a noncrhistian Church. Roman Cahtolics are Christians if they accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
Your point about the Crucified Christ in front of Catholic
Churches I believe is in error. I read the accounts in the Gospels about Jesus' last moments on the Cross and they do not bare you out.
The Cross was always a powerful symbol in teh early Christian Church and I believe the Catholics, Orthodox and many other Christians denomination have simply continued the tradition. The SCriptures speak of the glory and power of the Cross of Christ. Paul says that he glories in nothing but the Cross of Christ.
The death on the Cross does not symbolized weakness. It is in that death on the Cross that mankind was liberated. The Resurrection restored and led to our inheritance of the Holy Spirit.

May the Lord continue to bless and keep you in his grace.

Emile
