Dell Japan Begins Direct Marketing of Other Products

November 25, 1998 (TOKYO) -- Dell Computer Corp. of Japan announced Nov. 19 that it started direct marketing services under the DellWare framework including direct sales of products from other manufacturers.

Dell Computer has been directly selling its personal computers and servers. Through the DellWare program, it is expanding sales of software and hardware made by other companies as well.

Initially, Dell plans to sell about 100 items made by other companies, including printers, digital cameras and software products at about the same prices as in-store prices at volume retailers. Also, the company said it will expand the range of products handled by the service.

The company accepts orders from its Web site and via telephone. Dell Computer Corp. of the United States and its units in Europe provide the DellWare service, including direct sales of other companies' products.
