I fell in love with the promise of him,
a promise I had long been waiting for.
He sang songs to me as no other had,
songs that rang of truth and touched my soul,
yet, still I denied him.

He called me arrogant and aloof,
as he pushed for my surrender.
His songs became stronger,
as I became weaker,
yet, still I denied him.

I then gave him what he wanted to hear,
gave myself to him,
and all the music stopped.
