To Dale and All: repost of 4609; covers the IOM shorts.:)

This Friday is the busiest shopping day of the year! Last weekend I visited the Comp USA store in Woodbury Minnesota. The manager of the upgrade department told me that SyQuest was out of business and they would not provide any support for their products. Also, after searching for the end cap I saw last Summer for Imation's Superdisk I discovered it was gone. The salesclerk I questioned about it did not know where the product was. After explaining that I was looking for a removable storage device they walked me over to the Iomega and SyQuest products and informed me that the Zip drive was their best seller. When I asked if the re-writable cd drives would be a good alternative to the zip they said that re-writable cd's were used for archiving, or recording music. You could not use them like a conventional drive because you couldn't access and manipulate data like you could with your hard drive or a Zip / Jaz drive. There were only a couple Sparq drives on the shelf for SyQuest and they were priced on sale for $199. (I thought that was the regular price)

It looks like it will be a good shopping season for Iomega!

To all: Do some channel checks and post what you find.

Happy Holidays
