*****I NEED TO VENT A MINOR COUP******

After the market closed today, there was an announcement. The announcement was TNCR(30) and KLAC(41) are going to merge with KLAC converting 1 share of KLAC stock for each share of TNCR. Immediate 11 point gain for TNCR stockholders.

12/31- TNCR $ 26.50----KLAC $ 35.50
01/15- TNCR $ 41.00----KLAC $ 41.00

These were not my entry prices since they are part of my core holdings (entry was lower) but reflect the prices on the day I beleive I posted the stocks I like in 1997.

Again this is for illustrative purposes and not to hype these stocks and to relate my belief that the semi sector is on the move.

I did not anticipate this merger but it comes as no surprise. This is a good strategic move on both company's part given the comments I have made concerning the long range plans of AMAT. A merger of these 2 companies makes the entity stronger and possibly able to compete with AMAT down the road. I still beleive the AMAT metrology equipment (Orbot) will be a force to be reckoned with but this TNCR/KLAC merger makes sense for each to survive longer and to combine resources against AMAT.

This now lends credence to 2 other rumors. NVLS/LRCX rumor is another strategic alliance/merger opportunity to combat the evil AMAT horde.
Also, if the NVLS/LRCX does occur much like this TNCR/KLAC, I am sitting in the driver's seat with UTEK. A NVLS/LRCX merger will definitely let the cat out of the bag relative to AMAT's intentions to be all things to all companies and dominate the semiconductor equipment sector.

With this said, AMAT will be missing a lithographic exposure tool company. My bet is on UTEK (again I have a huge holding here and would benefit from any run on this stock). Itmay be another company but I am now offically paralyzed in UTEK until anannouncement is made.

The semis are starting to run. Call you buddies and decide on the companies you want to back with your $$$$. I have listed my favorites as a starting point. The rest is up to all of you.
