It is really to early for me to speculate on the future of device at this stage. It did successfully screw into the two vertabrae and has relieved the constant nerve pain in the back and leg. According to the doctors, fusion doesn't taker place until the bone, put into the middle of the BAK/L cages, grows and fuses the two vertbrae; this takes about 3 months (maybe faster) and can be verified by x-ray. Once they are sure that fusion is successful I then undergo some physical therapy. I still have some muscular soreness which they don't care about at this point in time. Thus, it is hard to judge the device, for my situation, yet.

Based on the numbers I have seen, and discussions I have had with the doctors, I expect the market for this device to be huge. Also, the company (about a month ago) told me they are training gobs of spine surgeons weekly. They were expecting to train about 40% of the spine surgeons in 1996; not sure if they accomplished this though.
