These are the same folks that used to be Encore which was acquired by Sun. In so doing, sun acquired an EMC like device that did not sell well for encore and questionable on how well sun is doing with it. Certainly there needs to be some hardware to run their software however based upon their web site, it looks like they may be going the IBM route and placing their storage software to perform data sharing and other functions on a general purpose system like NT or perhaps a Unix system. Will it work? time will tell. If they can get it to work, then their could be another kid on the block. An indicator to watch would be how well does IBM does with their new storage system based on an RS6000 system. Second, who is funding them?
