This thread would be very sparse if we all sat around waiting for Shawn's picks to be announced (he has about 2 pick a week (~12 stocks in 6 weeks) or his updated opinions on buy, hold, accumulate. If this is his thread for picks then no one should question the picks either, which would also make this very dull.

The respondents are what make up this thread and their views should be welcome. I agree with your comments concerning hype, etal. since I am guilty of bringing semis here and cracking a joke or two. But to start a new thread for "other than Shawn subjects" does not seem appropriate considering the readership of this thread.

Your suggestion of highlighting the stock is excellent and I will try to conform here. However, one further step could be taken. Putting an
*SM* in the upper left of the first line of the message as an indicator of the posting being entirely within the Shawn Thread guidelines would solve many issues. Then it would be extremely easy for anyone totally disinterested in what others on this thread have to say, to skip these messages and fully concentrate on the strict principles this thread was set up on. I will try to remember to put an "*AV*" on my posts here that have nothing to do with Shawn's picks as a courtesy to those that want to skip over my postings or postings that have nothing to do with Shawn's picks. Also, you have seen that I am trying to divert the semi traffic over to another thread where I have no problem answering questions or getting info concerning semis.

I for one would not mind conforming to this requirement. IT would allow me to concentrate on the 2 threads that are important to me and reduce the number of thread hopping I would have to do to cover all bases. Personally, I do not read "Z Best Picks" so I will surf that tonight. However, I like the people I interface with here and have a great deal of respect for their opinions. Like it or not, with all the warts, we are a community within this internet, so whether it is during market hours or when the day is over, we should be able to "have a beer" or share a joke as a community. I am all for setting up ground rules but let's do it by consensus. If we do not want a "human" environment and want a more "sterile" atmosphere, then we should opt for CNBC, FNN, WSJs, and continuous DJ news reports to make us wealthy in the market.

I beleive we may want diversity, but I could be wrong.

Respectfully yours
