I would encourage you to read QC's 10K's over the years. The company has always been extremely conservative with its disclosures, i.e. discussed worst case situations/outcomes. Having studied the 10K pretty carefully, I saw nothing unusual or concerning. But understand the mindset...QC certainly didn't expect the Q phone cases to crack in the first place...and this flaw did have a material impact on March and June 1998 earnings. Given this, I do not find it surprising that they would add the new "risk factor" to the disclosures. Based on everything I know, there are no continuing, material manufacturing problems at QPE.
