Bill, anything on the market now will be obsolete in a year or three.
For the removable storage market NOW there is considerable momentum
what with 18 million ZIP drives sold. The price for internals is <$100
and for those that want a little more than 100 MB the 250 MB ZIP
has been announced. I don't think DVD-RAM can beat that price point
yet. Allen Murdock has written much about DVD-RAM vs ZIP on the
Iomega threads.

You said >When the DVD-RAM type drives are out in volume and even Panasonic, et al, are churning them out like 3.5" floppies, where does it leave IOM?<

When DVD-RAMs become a threat to Iomega's line, they will probably
act by releasing something new. Like they just announced the
250 MB ZIP before Sony's HiFD ships. You see, Sony it trying
to get into this "doomed" market and will probably ship HiFD in 1Q99.

I wouldn't assume any of the players will stand still.
