It matters cause someone paid 39 7/8 for it -- when the last trade yesterday was at 21 1/2. There were a lot of orders to buy at the open -- at market. If you watch pre opening trades -- you'd realize they are often a game to manipulate the price. Just ask Jim Cramer. But sometimes they can tell you where the stock will be heading on heavy trading. At 9:30 I would have said it was simply manipulation. Now? I'm not so sure.
