Stock options

This has been, is and will be a great problem. It totally distorts the real financial picture of a company's earnings...

The FASB (the independent accounting body authorized to issue accounting standards) tried to deal with this issue a couple of years back. But they were totally derailed by the backlash from the people who are making out big time on this...(high tech executives mostly). So they shelved their plans and went back into some easier to draft standards (and less controversial).

The biggest perpetrator of this stock option manipulation is Microsoft. At the same time this "perk" sure does wonders for the morale and dedication of the employees, no?

I wish the FASB had the guts to pick this issue up again but they won't. The only way they will do it is when the bubble bursts and everyone starts asking questions again...but until then let's enjoy it , it sure is different this time<ggg>
