INTERNET BUSINESS NEWS: Digi International Inc has
introduced its NetBlazer 8500 universal
access server. The new product, an Internet
telephony system, is a Voice over IP
gateway and it uses the H.323 protocol,
enabling it to transfer voice, data and images
over TCP/IP networks. The system supports
a range of security standards, including
RADIUS and ADNS and new applications or
emerging technologies can be easily
integrated with it. Other features include
flexible authentication, system monitoring
and system recovery functions and high
scalability. Separately, Oki Electric Industry
Co Ltd has introduced its BS1200 Internet
Voice Gateway to the European market. The
product, which uses the existing
infrastructure of the Internet or corporate
intranet for telephony needs, comes in an
all-inclusive one-box design and it connects
existing PBX-based analogue lines and digital
data networks without a separate server. It
provides four 8kbps compressed voice
channels and one optional fax transmission
channel over the same IP link and also allows
users to transmit IP-packetized voice or
facsimile data over TCP/IP networks.
