Soybeans, corn rise on export sales

CHICAGO (CBS.MW) -- A favorable USDA export sales report helped to lift soybean and corn futures Friday.

The Department of Agriculture said soybeans export sales were at 409,700 million metric tons, running above expectations of 300,000 million metric tons. The soybean complex also got a boost from forecasts for dryer weather in South American growing regions. On the Chicago Board of Trade, January soybeans rose 11.2 cents to $5.824 per contract.

Corn sales were at a strong 1.266 million metric tons, well above expectations of 800,000 million metric tons. On the Chicago Board of Trade, March corn rose 1 cent to $2.292 per contract.
