Short and Medium Term Themes that may turn this bubble around (add to the list, anybody):

1. Preannouncements.
2. Launch of Euro.
3. Greenspan finds he can't cut forever.
4. Earnings Disappointments, particularly Christmas lies and internet bubble earnings are not there.
5. 1/1/99 starts to make people see that y2k will actually really get here someday.
6. Market realizes that love affair with Clinton can't last forever no matter what happens with impeachment...his term will come to an end. (Candidates begin to announce and posture themselves.)
7. Change of power in Russia.
8. Further bank failures in Japan and SE Asia.
