Clarence, you should take all these heavy-handed sounding things in the spirit I am certain they were meant, that is, most of us have found that it's more productive to leave our machines running than to turn them off.
I know these were presented in challenging ways (we're not the most, um, diplomatic types around here <ggg>). Nevertheless, constructively meant. I can empathize with this post of yours, sort of defending "I am me". BTW, you did it very well.
The periodic scan is not a false security blanket, but it's maybe not the most effective one either (it only gives you warning after the bottom edge of the blanket's unraveled, to continue the metaphor). Think about how you might put away a spare, whole blanket from time to time as a possibly better use of protective resources, maybe. Not exclusive of other security measures, either.
