1. UK forces both those that are visible and an quite a lot more that are not are standing by the US right now and will support the US fully in any action in the Gulf whether or not any other members of the EU like it or not. When it comes down to the wire the UK has and will continue its relationship with the US. There is not a cat in Hells chance of the UK relying on any EU country when its vital interests are at stake.

2. There are tens of thousands of young Americans and Brits lying buried in France in cemetaries located all over Northern France from the English Channel to the Swiss border. These young men died rescuing France from one of its European neighbours and not just once but twice.

The French refused over-flying rights to the US when the US decided to take action to defend its vital interests. Instead US servicemen had to overcome a significant additional obstacle before accomplishing their mission.

3. There are some coutries in the World where the 'street' publicly burns the Stars and Stipes and the 'street', the media and Government officals refer to the US as the great satan. The French would do business with such people indeed they are eager to do so.

4. The US has never colonized anyone, and it offers a home to tens of millions of poor and oppresed people who having arrived are free to express temselves and carry out their lives in a way and at a standard of living that quite a few countries in the world refuse to allow or are incapable of achieving for their populations ro in many cases both.

The "insensitivity to World opinion" is nothing less than seething jeaslousy in that no-one can accuse the US of colonization as they did the British and so in sheer frustration at the bankruptcy of their civilizations and the resulting mpoverishement of their populations we hear this howling moan of "insensitivity to World opinion" ( whatever that might be).
