Tech,

I wont flame you since you have admitted that you dont really know the industry.

I will just tell you that IBM in more industry sectors than just mainframe. In fact, their Global Services Division makes more than 1/3 of all IBM revenues. Then there is the Mid-range systems like AS-400 (which is show huge increases in sales) and the AIX - RS6000 line which is second only to Sun in Marketshare. Then there is there IBM's software revenue which make more than 2 times the revenue than MSFT (hard to believe huh)! Then there is IBM's networking hardware revenue. Then there is their PC desktop and server revenue. Then there is their Computer chip technology which controls many of the vehicles and other devices we live with every day.

shall I go on? The point is that (as Downsouth stated earlier) IBM considers MSFT to be a thorn in IBM's side when it comes to the PC software area, but since that is only about 10-15% of their business, do you really think IBM is a bit worried about MSFT.

I think not!

By the way - have you looked at IBM's stock lately. It just hit $170 today. Only a few short months ago they were equal to MSFT in price.
