The nasdaq 100 March futures contract is quoted at 897.50 up 6.50 from the 4:00 quote. Intel accounts for 18.73% of this index. The actual Nasdaq 100 closed at 881.38 today, so in essence I believe the index will open somewhere around 897.50 or 16+ points higher.

having said that, Intel has a shot at 160 this week.

It is also very possible that tomorrow's opening gap may not be filled in. Remember back in Oct when Intel announced that the 3rd quarter was lookin great, Intel gapped from 88+/- to the 92 area and NEVER FILLED THE GAP. The news was too good.

There will probably be an onslaught of earnings revisions starting tomorrow further fueling the stock.

I must admit that this afternoon when I wrote that 2.25 was necessary for no selloff, it was done as being a devil's advocate...to spur some conversation and thought.

Given the comments from the Conference call and the earnings statement, Intel should earn near $10 in 97....so 200 to 250 now doesn't seem to be out of the question by Christmas 97.

Intel wants to authorize 4.7 billion shares, maybe if the stock is around 180 by may, they will make it a 3:1 split instead of a 2:1. It is obvious that the execs at intel are very confident with 97 (even though they gave us the usual "things are o.k. and look pretty good").

The short sellers will add to the price appreciation in the next few days and weeks. This month the MM's may be caught on the short side of things if they think that INTC will be at 145 on Friday. There seems to be too many forces pushing INTC up in the next few days.

Most importantly, margins are expected to be at 60% +/-. This si not a disappointing statement. This is extraordinarily awesome and shows the efficiency at which everything is running at Intel.

Just some thoughts to ponder upon for the evening....don't be surprised to see 160 this week and any type of pullback should be short lived....don't be pulled into it.

Looking for support at 149-3/4 (today's high) but that may be too low, just depends on what happens tomorrow.
But maybe because I wrote that, some of the "forces" may try to go into the 148's to get some panic sell orders.

By the way, over the weekend alot of the regulars on the thread were saying "I'll sell at the gap on Wed". another reason for price moving up is that tonight I am not hearing that anymore...I think the reason is that some of us traders are having a change of heart after the press release.
