I sent a correspondence to sales at SanDisk inquiring why there has been no response to Lexar's sale prices for CompactFlash and why there are no sales via the SanDisk website.

The response I received indicates that the strategy thus far has been to dominate store shelves at the retail level (as they have announced) and to respect/not compete with their retailers by selling products over the internet. They feel that SanDisk has control of 90% of retail shelves and a substantial presence overseas.

I hope that this strategy is sound and its success reflected in 4th quarter sales. Some of the postings on the digital camera message boards indicate that buyers are not stupid and shop for deals (specifically for CF) at various electronics websites and will buy nearly any brand. That is to say, most brand names are equally foreign when it comes to CF. I am hoping for alot of impulse buys at the counters. Hopefully the PDA/Palmtop markets will also contribute.

Good Luck to All SanDisk Longs,

Aus
