Slider, I think you have finally jumped off into the land of irrational exuberance.

All the reasons you give for the ultimate rise in the sector are logical and reasonable. But I can tell you that those, and similar, "reasons for oil to move higher" have been talked about ad nausem for the last 20 years, if not longer. There is nothing "unique" to the situation of oil today.

Yes, the sector finally did "recover" in 1997, after 11 years. It can just as easliy be another 11 years before it happens again.

I think you are viewing the oil patch with a blind eye to the historical perspective.

On the other hand, you could be exactly right. History is not on your side, however.

My long term money would go to the money market today. My trading money is for the patch. (I don't follow ANY other sectors or stocks since all I know is the oil business...and I am learning more every day.)
