However, in non-taxable spinoffs, I don't know how the cost basis is figured. You guys are no help and I have to do all the work :-). I found some information buried in the Qualcomm web pages: qualcomm.com As best as my abilities can parse that information :-) it is some complicated function of 6.875 times number of LWIN shares and the QCOM's "E&P" which they will figure out by Dec 1 and let you know in 1099-DIV by Jan31, 1999. It makes my head spin so I will just wait to get the 1099-DIV before I think about any of this again :-)
