<OT> Maddies Pet Adoption Center
Hi I visited this place and picked up a brochure this weekend, it is a part of the SF SPCA which was built with donations from Duffield (Maddie is the name of one of Duffields dogs). Well, you know life isnt fair when dogs and cats are living in a nicer house than you have!
Heres a few quotes from the brochure: "You notice the difference as soon as you walk in the lobby, a spacious area filled with natural light from floor to ceiling picture windows. A warm, inviting grand entry hall features animal motif cushions on finely crafted wood furniture with lots of plants and greenery."
Unlike conventional side-by-side kennels, each dog lives in his own large apartment situated on a street. As you stroll along the doggie avenues, with names like Remington Road and Lassie Lane, you see dog apartments with different versions of Victorian and Spanish style facades, representing San Francisco architecture. The realistic touch continues inside, where each dog lives in a room the size of a master bedroom, and instead of the usual cyclone fence or cinderblock walls, each apartment has real walls, with all the comforts of home: picture windows, artwork on the walls, comfy chairs for snoozing, skylights, toys, throw rugs and a TV to watch Rin Tin Tin reruns!
The cats in the new Kitty Lofts are living the life of Riley. On the outside, units resemble typical artist lofts in the SF bohemian South of Market district. Inside, the cats have all the creature comforts of a Nob Hill Penthouse. The lofts sport dangling mobiles to entertain the cats, cozy futon couches, cat-challenging climbing trees, sunny perches, rugs and toys. Some even have aquariums and VCRs showing videos of twittering birds.
The solarium boasts floor to ceiling windows and serves as a place for undersocialized cats to hang out and get accustomed to people. |
