Could someone please explain?

As part of the July deal with GE, Elamex gave the warrants for shares that would allow them to end up with 6.25%, purchase price was equal to BV.

On 9-10-98 GE filed that they owned 5.2% of Elamex voting stock.

Are the shares they own the warrant shares or have they bought separately? Could they be buying at the $4.00 level? Seems like buying at $4.00 would be far better than at the warrant price of $7.81.
