Limtex, Kings always thinks their subjects love them. After watching a few beheadings, the subjects know to smile as the King walks by. Even if he isn't wearing any clothes. Being very careful not to laugh in that instance.

Colonisation isn't necessarily a bad thing. It usually means the colonizing people are superior. I know it's unfashionable to talk about superior cultures or people, but I think the USA culture is superior to that of the Indians for example, who planned to revert to stone age ways to kill a few whales. Same for Maoris who lived with war and stone age brutal lives. Which is not to say there isn't plenty of brutal going on right now in the colonizing cultures.

I'm in favour of aspects of the USA colonizing the world and it is in the process of doing so. Well under way too. For example, the US$ has colonized vast tracts of the world's economy. Iraq is learning about USA international rules [not really UN rules]. Libya too. The United Nations marches to the USA tune, more or less.

Technology from the USA is also colonizing the world. For example, QUALCOMM and Globalstar are derived from USA companies, though the staff include many colonials from other countries who are now in the employ of QUALCOMM. QUALCOMM uses my capital, so the USA is colonizing the capital markets. That's because the SEC and USA laws protect investors much better than the rotten kleptocracies in many countries.

There are Big Macs available around the world. Coca Cola and Fords. The globalisation trend is to a great extent derived from the USA.

Whining nationalists who are losing power over their captive citizens don't like it. Bad luck for them. I don't like being in thrall to local kleptocrats.

But don't think this is a one way street. Colonisation of a country is a bit like grabbing a tar baby. You become one with it. It changes you. A bit like Britain colonized India and was changed by it.

The USA colonized Japan, gave it a USA constitution, USA military bases which are still there, baseball, Big Macs and a lot more. I know Japan initiated war, but the fact is they were colonized. The USA attempted to colonize Vietnam, with NZ's help, but failed. As you say, the warring tribes of North America were colonized by British immigrants.

Colonisation is not all bad you know. Africa hasn't been anything great since they threw off the yoke of the evil British. Idi Amin put paid to a horde of his countrymen. That didn't happen when the British were in charge.

Roll on colonisation of the world by QUALCOMM, WirelessKnowledge, Leap Wireless International, cdmaOne, cdma2000.

And colonisation of the USA by we aliens. Ramsey has already moved in! Taking over QUALCOMM too.
