Mitch,
  just open the email, highlight the text (depress the mouse key and swipe the relevant area.  The text will turn color, blue usually.), <ctrl> C to copy,(or use the edit menu option to get to a copy command)  and then its in the clipboard.  Go to SI, the thread, respond, Type the beginning of your message and when you want that special text <ctrl>V to paste (or use the edit menu option to paste) the clipboard to the message area.
  A great way to keep a record of what you want to see later is to open a word document, or any text editor, along with your browser, and copy relevant parts of posts to the buffer, and then <alt>Tab to the word processor from the Browser, and paste what you cut.  This leaves you with a file that contains only what you want, and which you can add to later. If you browser has a text editor you can use that also.
