Black Cases and PCI slots

California PC has black cases calpc.com

These are quality cases. They are expensive relative to other cases. About $170 and you need to add a power supply. There are a lot of cases with power supply +/- $100. I am sure there are other black cases but you will not find many.

Another problem with black is components. You will have trouble finding black CDROM and floppy drives to match the case. How much are you willing to pay for black?:)

You will find that the total number of expansion slots in the ATX format is seven. That includes AGP, PCI, and ISA. Some computers will have less but forget about finding more...tough to configure more slots. Some boards will have more PCI slots but will therefore have fewer ISA slots. Many boards a generation ago had 5 PCI slots. AGP came along and the five slot boards turned into four slot boards and one AGP.

As Howard mentioned the ABIT is probably the best 5 PCI slot board on the market now. There are other options as you need a network card. The ASUS P2B L has onboard LAN and 4 PCI slots.

TCcomputers is a good place to look at pictures of mobos and prices.

Tyan makes a six PCI slot board but again as Howard mentioned you pay. The TYAN S1836DLU THUNDER has six PCI tyan.com If you want SCSI capability it is not such a bad deal as the SCSI is onboard. This board is $500 vs $200 for the ASUS with onboard LAN and $140 for the ABIT with five PCI slots.

What's the latest on the Matrox multimonitor card? I recall some discussion but price? has it been released?
