CB,

I hate to mention it, but I worked on a project with Tom Berenger, and I don't think you'd like him at all.

I've occasionally locked an actress in as a fantasy object while watching a movie, but I rarely even go to the length of finding out her name. I've worked as a sriptwriter and assistant director, and I can't think of actors or actresses as much more than puppets. The overwhelming majority are absolutely obnoxious; there are a few exceptions. In the truly talented ones, the obnoxiousness takes on a moderately acceptable form, but those are a small minority. If you ever want a very swift disillusionment, sit with a bunch of veteran Hollywood techies and watch one of those HBO interviews with the cast of a major film. The stories are wonderful.

There are some truly wonderful people behind the camera in the movie world (some total pigs as well); many fewer in front of it.

I'm tempted to ask your expert opinion, and Christine's, and anyone else's, on the oddly female habit of paying attention to celebrities.

Steve
