Oh, well, if you are talking about LIVE bands, who can compare to Jimi Hendrix? Although, and I am certainly giving away my age here, there was a time, not a long time, but a fine time, where you couldn't go wrong with It's A Beautiful Day, Mountain, and Bloodrock ("D.O.A.") live. If you are not talking live, hey, no one mentioned Brian Eno. But I guess he isn't really a band. Other great individuals, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Daniel Lanois. Hey, did anyone mention the Beach Boys?
