Those "darned old disks" don't spin down (nor does the
old junk bios know how to do it anyhow). Probably why
they've lasted so long <gg>.

That aside, even on newer systems its a mixed bag. On
my main work system I don't spin them down because
when I do I find annoying delays in the middle of my
day. I guess I spend a lot of time aslee...uh, thinking
creatively. On two other systems I do spin them down and
resent the spin-up delay several times a day.

On balance, I'd rather spend the 5 or so watts a disk
takes. I turn off the monitors at night, though.

Yes, you're far better off now with these new, multiple
worries. Glad to help out <ggg>.
